Navigating your way around MoMA

Two sets of elevators are located near the museum's entrance. Take the east elevators for access to all floors. The west elevators only go up to the 4th floor. Escalators are also available near the entrance and connect floors 2 through 5.

If you are using a wheelchair, you can use the ramps available at all entrances, and elevators that connect all exhibit levels. There are accessible restrooms conveniently located on every floor.

  • Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are located on every floor except for Theater level 2.
  • Elevators & escalators: High-speed elevators connect all floors, with strategically placed escalators for easy movement.
  • Wheelchairs: Wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis on the first floor, near the 54th Street entrance.
  • Ramps and automatic doors: All galleries, entrances, and facilities are wheelchair accessible. There are automatic doors at the entrances on both 53rd and 54th Streets.
  • Baby-changing stations: There are baby changing stations available in restrooms of floors 1, 3W, 5, and T1.
  • Coat check: You can leave your bags and coats at the entrance of the museum on 53rd Street.

Visitor tips

  • Aim to visit the museum on weekdays or mornings, especially during peak seasons, for a more relaxed experience.
  • MoMA is a spacious attraction with six floors for you to explore. So wear comfortable shoes to enjoy your visit.
  • Art appreciation takes time! Don't hesitate to take breaks in the serene Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, located on the ground floor.
  • MoMA’s staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Don't hesitate to ask for directions or recommendations based on your interests.
  • Don’t carry large bags or suitcases as they are not allowed inside the museum. You will find the cloak room at the entrance of the museum for storing small bags or backpacks.
